arrested development
seen it?
1) yes?
a) loved it? i love you.
b) didn’t love it? grrr.
2) no?
a) see it. now. fine, fine satire. the finest.
a word: i don’t normally watch tv. it’s the advertisements coupled with the fact that tv comes off so…forced, usually. but “arrested development” (it’s actually on dvd, so i don’t really watch tv) counts itself among a few shows that i think are divine, like “all in the family” and “seinfeld” (though, i must say, “arrested development” is the most consistently funny of the three.)
another word: shows i strongly dislike: “friends” and “will & grace.”
CloudChaser
loathe watching tv… but ‘seinfeld’ was worthwhile and ‘will & grace’ unbearable.

i loved arrested development so i knew it would not last. but of course Hope and Faith lasted FOREVER!
i did love friends.
Now i am only faithful to King of Queens and The Office.
I am not one to say Tv just rots the brain… tummy aching laughs, inspiration, enlightenment, therapy and knowledge can also come of it.

1.a).
However, also loathe watching TV. Sort of end up resenting it and growling at self. BUT like to find good shows to watch on DVD. Currently loving: MAD MEN. Betty Draper! No Betty No.
Luke Downes replied
good point. i have enjoyed what i’ve seen of ‘mad men.’ i also accept that most tv is pretty overbaked, even the good stuff and for that reason, i do find myself irresistibly drawn to ‘lost,’ which i want to hate, but secretly love.

One finds oneself in conundrums such as these: is Michael with his “straight man” schtick the funniest, or George Michael with his weepingly funny understated insecurity, or GOB – it’s not magic, Michael, it’s ILLUSION! – or BUSTER? dehanded by a seal? and always SQUEALING to Lucille? Oh Buster, thou art the funniest of them ALL!
Luke Downes replied
Gob, for me. Definitely Gob, with his childish man-tantrums (mantrums, anyone?) and teenaged boy mentality, is so incredibly stupid and offensive but, deep down, just wants the approval of everyone else. Will Arnett is perfect for the role.

back in the day when i used to watch tv sitcoms, this was one of my favorite. just so darn crazy, but and this is a big BUT! not as crazyfunny as strangers with candy! now that made me really laugh
Luke Downes replied
while i thought the antics of strangers with candy wore thin fairly quickly for me, i do love amy sedaris, especially her guide to entertaining (stoner food: chewed up cracker on new cracker…priceless)

I’ve not seen Arrested Development so I can give an opinion hehe…
Some TV series I’ve really enjoyed
MASH
Cheers
Seinfeld
South Park
Robot Chicken
I’ve started watching The Big Bang Theory, makes me laugh my sides silly as the four guys remind me of people I know……
Another I started watching is Black Books – English comedy….
LOL and I don’t watch much TV at all……most have been recorded to watch at weird hours….
I prefer watching a mini series,
Deadwood (best of the best of the best and west)
Twin Peaks
Carnivale
Luke Downes replied

So true, Gob is goddamned hilarious, and the “illusions” kill me. I would like to take this opportunity to express my pride and humility at being present at the inauguration of that most perfect of terms: mantrum. (bows head and golf claps while crowd goes wild)
