Lady Cops

Shots ring out at midnight
Lady cops rush to put up a fight
Crime knows no rhyme or reason
It breeds all around
Despite the season.
Lady cops put lipstick on
Grab their badge and a gun
Get the word, now they’re gone…
Lady cops combat their fears
Jump in patrol cars
And hold back their tears
Determined to prove that they’ll be
Just as tough as the men
Righting wrong that they see.

Inspired by the new reality TV show “Police Women Of Cincinnati”…

PS, no offense to those lady cops who prefer not to wear makeup. I realize not all women dig makeup.
I’m going more for the imagery of a woman juggling the duality of maintaining her feminine persona while enmeshed in the gritty business of fighting raw, real crime…

Another PS: In mentioning that lady cops hold back their tears, I am not suggesting that tears are a sign of weakness. It’s more a reflection on the reality that typically women tend to feel more than men. Women are usually in closer touch with their emotions. I do not think this is a negative. It’s just important for women in general to keep how we feel hidden at times in order to be taken seriously, unfortunately…

The world is full of magical photo ops…

All you need to grab them is a zest for life, an eye for the extraordinary and that trusty camera of your choice.

Raise the sturdy weight of it to your face … close one eye then … lower your finger upon the shiny black button… hold your breath then… hear that hypnotic click and suddenly, dynamite explodes! the stars collide! and maybe, just maybe you’ve captured a magnificent moment in time… How thrilling is that?!?
