Captured my Ava in natural and lamp light, using the TTV technique, Through The Viewfinder. I bought an antique Kodak Duaflex camera today in order to use it in conjunction with my Nikon D90 camera with 105 macro lens. TTV allows you to get “old school” photos with the natural dust and scratches found on the vintage camera’s convex lens that sits atop this incredibly groovy camera. The lens also allows for soft “halo” movement around the subjects pictured. No post editing.

The world is full of magical photo ops…

All you need to grab them is a zest for life, an eye for the extraordinary and that trusty camera of your choice.

Raise the sturdy weight of it to your face … close one eye then … lower your finger upon the shiny black button… hold your breath then… hear that hypnotic click and suddenly, dynamite explodes! the stars collide! and maybe, just maybe you’ve captured a magnificent moment in time… How thrilling is that?!?

    Wow, I love this shot.
There is something so nice about knowing it hasn’t been edited, I dont think there is enough ‘real’ photography around, it has been made so easy to edit and now photos without editing tend to look bland. I know I cant really talk, I edit all of mine, but You have inspired me to try some different techniques.
    Thank you

  • Awwwwwww, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your fantastic comment. It means a great deal to me that you took the time to offer such lovely thoughts. I try to keep my images as “pure” as possible, I guess I’m old fashioned that way. Not to say I don’t admire the work that can be done with Photoshop, but there is something to be said for shooting for that natural magic that can take place in the moment, without the need for special effects later. Your work is out-of-this-world, so your technique is already superb, but if I’ve inspired you to dabble in a new direction for fun, then I am honored! :)
