Part of my collection of brilliant pieces of pottery sea glass, so smooth and beautifully cast in rich, delicious hues. So soothing to the touch, so eye catching to behold. I adore them! They made their journey from across the globe yesterday to our happy home and I love every one of them. Each tells a story. Each found its way from the depths of the ocean to the shores of foreign lands. Originally caught in sunken ships, buried at sea, perhaps? From jugs or cups or dishes used by swashbuckling, fearless pirates as they set sail in search of lost treasures? Each one tells a tale. If only they could speak…

The world is full of magical photo ops…

All you need to grab them is a zest for life, an eye for the extraordinary and that trusty camera of your choice.

Raise the sturdy weight of it to your face … close one eye then … lower your finger upon the shiny black button… hold your breath then… hear that hypnotic click and suddenly, dynamite explodes! the stars collide! and maybe, just maybe you’ve captured a magnificent moment in time… How thrilling is that?!?

Great collection there……………..are you going to grout them into a masterpiece?

  • Thank you for your terrific comment! I’m not sure yet what I’ll do… some are so divine, they could be worn as jewelry! :) I’ve never grouted anything together before, but it seems very tempting! Tough decision, as I love to be able to handle each piece on its own, to roll each one around in my hand and find incredible detail on every side. All of them have such unique characteristics. Guess I’m officially a pottery sea glass “nut” :)

This is unique, I love it!

  • Wow! Thank you soooooo much! So glad you enjoy my image. I am forever drawn to the sea and everything it offers and houses! Too bad I live no where near an ocean. At least I can visit the surf over spring breaks! I live for those magical moments…

Stunning collection my friend – so lovely to find others that treasure these gifts from the sea and enjoy imagining the stories each one holds. C

WOW! WHAT A COLLECTION…I have found a few…but never so many as you have! Love it, as the pottery has colour and something else that seems vacant from glass pieces found…It inspired me to take some photos of a lovely piece I found in a junk shop..OPP SHOP as they say in OZ! It haunted me until I went back and got it ! Will upload one of the sections photographed…It is circular with a lovely quote handwritten in the middle of many American Indian pottery chards found by the collector (information found on back)….so if you do glue, you could too! ( use your description?)

  • Thanks for visiting and leaving such a lovely comment! I do adore these treasures, and I’m so glad to see you went back and got yours in the shop. When something pulls at you like that, you simply have no choice but to own it and enjoy it!!! Definitely upload the pictures. I’m sure they are spectacular. I haven’t glued yet, but maybe some day. In the mean time, I’m just enjoying the way each piece looks and the feel of it as I hold the smooth shapes in my hand. Sounds silly, but for some reason, it is simply soothing! :)

I agree! You probably are sensing the beautiful meals, drinks, etc that the pottery vessels held! One day I picked up lots of sea worn glass and had great fun just arranging and rearranging them as abstracts – a photo of one of the arrangements is in my profile gallery. I did UPLOAD the full pic as well. Search for “Willa Cather”. Thanks to YOUR inspiration :/) it got accepted into Inspired Art! (sorry…gotta learn the link trick!)
