Earth

I’m charmed by the night sky
stars grip like old souls
with stories to relate
wise and sure of shine.
Breathing in and out
I know the seas do the same
This floating globe breathes
like you and I.; depending on air
water, warm sunshine.
Under this same sky we gaze;
think of the damages done
to mother earth over
years, her breathing laboured now
from our disrespect.

We should begin again
from within ourselves
with pure hearts radiating
like the sun. Learning
from the lungs of nature.
Respecting our mother.

Oh Aine, beautiful! “her breathing laboured now” so sad, but needs to be said.
