These series of tulip et al shots were taken in October ‘09 during the Floriade Festival in Canberra, Australia. It is an annual springtime event gardeners and nature-lovers of all sorts look forward to. It mainly features a wide variety of Tulip species, marquees from exhibitors of gardening products, garden decorations, flower arrangements, flower shops and other stuff like organic products, organic food, hats, brick-a-brack, jewellery and most things you’d expect to find at the markets for spring.

There were patches of these white & yellow irises among the tulips.

My name is Aileen and I’m a mother, photographer and yoga teacher. I specialize in macro and close-up photography. I love capturing the tiny and revealing their beauty and uniqueness. There is so much beauty right under our noses if we only took the time to really look. Details in texture and the behavior of light and shade on the small scale is so fascinating for me. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I did capturing them.

Just beautiful Aileen. Such a display of glorious colour! I love the little scattering of the red flowers here – makes such a pretty contrast.

  • Thanks Sharon*:)* This patch wasn’t so big and I had to position myself properly (plus there were so many people!)
