Calendars are a great way to put a collection of works together, and that’s precisely what this is.
The Hidden Land is a collection of Macro shots of rocks and minerals in our personal collection. It’s titled such because, while everybody appreciates a nice crystal or a glittery rock, the intricate details and the whole process behind the creation of it are lost on most. My goal was to feature the multitude of veins, colours, textures and layers of my subjects in hopes that the viewer will, with a little imagination, dream that they are walking through these lands and come to appreciate their beauty up close.
So, stare at them, start imagining and let the images transport you to another world.
My name is Aileen and I’m a mother, photographer and yoga teacher. I specialize in macro and close-up photography. I love capturing the tiny and revealing their beauty and uniqueness. There is so much beauty right under our noses if we only took the time to really look. Details in texture and the behavior of light and shade on the small scale is so fascinating for me. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I did capturing them.
