My name is Alan Hutchison and I live near Stirling in Scotland.

I have been taking photographs since I was about 6 years old. Let’s just say that this was quite a long time ago. At that time I was given my Grandad’s old Kodak compact bellows camera to “play” with. It took 620 roll film and I’ve since found out that it would have been manufactured in the 1930’s. I wish I still had it, but sadly not.

Once I got a bit older I went through various compact models shooting 120 and horror of horrors 110 film before purchasing my first 35mm camera – a Russian-built Zorki Rangefinder, closely followed by a Zenit 35mm SLR.

Whilst at High School I learned how to develop my own black and white prints – unfortunately I couldn’t afford the paper or the chemicals, so that experiment didn’t last long.

In my 20’s I purchased what I regarded as my first “real” camera – Canon’s EOS620, one of the first models in this range and an early auto-focus example. In the 90’s I eventually switched to Nikon and have stuck with them ever since.

I now shoot with a Nikon D-200 digital camera.

On this site you’ll find examples of some of my latest work. As you will see, most of my work is either travel related or taken in and around my home town. I still prefer Black and White, so most of my photographs are processed this way.

Thanks for visiting.
