On President’s Day, the memorial to the founding father, George Washington.

555 feet, 5 and 1/8 inches in height. Up until 23 August 2011, you could actually venture inside the monument and take a trip up to an obeservation deck. However following an earthquake South West of Washington DC, during which several visitors were injured, the interior of the monument was closed and is currently undergoing restoration

The construction was completed in two phases, one private (1848-1854) and one public (1876-1884). If you look closely you may see the change in colour of the marble used in the two phases.

My pictures are taken with a Sony DSC-HX1. What you see is pretty much what comes from the memory card, with maybe a touch of rotation and or cropping.
I probably wouldn’t be taking so many pictures if it weren’t for the camera. It has been worth every penny as it has captured some great memories since I got it in 2009.
Feel free to comment on any of the pictures. I’m all for learning how to improve.
