Headed out on San Francisco Bay toward the Golden Gate Bridge on a very calm, very sunny October day. The picture depicts the Northern Tower of the Bridge.
The next few days (27 and 28 May 2012) will see the 75th anniversaries of Pedestrian Day and the opening to traffic (respectively) of the Bridge.
The tower – 746feet in height, 600,000 rivets and weighing in at 44,000 tons
It is said there have been over 1.75 billion crossings since then.
In 1994 The Golden Gate Bridge was named one of the Seven Civil Engineering Wonders of the United States by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
