One of San Francisco’s most famous landmarks spanning The Golden Gate. This was taken from the Marin County side. I don’t know of a nicer 1.7 mile walk, 220 feet above the sea on a deck supported by two cables 3’3/8" in diameter that are made up of 80,000 miles of wire. In 2012 she’ll be 75 years old … over 1.75 billion crossings and still going strong.
In 1994 The Golden Gate Bridge was named one of the Seven Civil Engineering Wonders of the United States by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

My pictures are taken with a Sony DSC-HX1. What you see is pretty much what comes from the memory card, with maybe a touch of rotation and or cropping.
I probably wouldn’t be taking so many pictures if it weren’t for the camera. It has been worth every penny as it has captured some great memories since I got it in 2009.
Feel free to comment on any of the pictures. I’m all for learning how to improve.

Congratulations! Your photo has been featured in “Boats, Beaches, Bays!”
This photo was chosen because it was of a very high quality and it captured exactly the sort of work that we feel should be displayed in the featured section of a coastal group.
This is absolutely gorgeous
Thank you. This was from September 2009 on my first visit to San Francisco. I was told at the time that the skies had not been so clear in a long while perhaps another reason there were so many people on that road up to the top of Hawk Hill that day. I intended to go back there last year but the day I wanted to go, the bridge was covered in fog.

yeah – I was there 2 weeks ago! Great shot
I bet it will not be the last time you’re there. Next year she’s 75 years old. I would like to go back for that, but I believe they are not closing the bridge to traffic on the day as they had done previously on the 50th anniversary.
