Messerschmitt BF109 G-4 operated by the EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company) Heritage Flight

This example was originally built in 1950 and starred in the film “The Battle of Britain” as both Red 14 and Yellow 11.

She was involved in several crash landings in the following years, most recently in 2008 when the main landing gear failed to lock.

Red Seven was back in the air a year later

My pictures are taken with a Sony DSC-HX1. What you see is pretty much what comes from the memory card, with maybe a touch of rotation and or cropping.
I probably wouldn’t be taking so many pictures if it weren’t for the camera. It has been worth every penny as it has captured some great memories since I got it in 2009.
Feel free to comment on any of the pictures. I’m all for learning how to improve.

Great image, did you get any close ups of the engine?

  • Thanks Nigel.
Unfortunately not as it was roped off. I didn’t really spend much time around the static exhibits either. As I’d not seen one flying before, I also didn’t take pictures because I was too busy watching it. It’s difficult to choose between watching and taking pictures sometimes :)
