She’s a Morelet Crocodile, an endangered species which is present in the swamps of Yucatan peninsula (South-Est Mexico, Guatemala). Their numbers diminish day after day due to the reduction of the size of their habitat, and illegal hunting.
When she was captured 30 years ago, she was already measuring 3 meters from head to tail.
Nobody knows her age for sure, but she should be well over 40 years old now. You can admire that beauty in the natural reserve park La Venta, in Villahermosa.
Her name is Papillon as a reference to the 60’s movie starring Steve Mc Queen. She was named that way because she has already escaped a few times from her pool, during past floodings!
