Behind the current Portmeirion factory in Stoke-on-Trent lie this pair of relics of an older, more labour intensive age; an age when Stoke was truly The Potteries. These two of around 1904 were originally part of the Falcon Pottery Works.
Also part of the site are these Victorian buildings
Portmeirion is a new pottery company (at least relatively) founded in 1960 by pottery designer Susan Williams-Ellis. It is also one of the few that is still going strong in Stoke.
For a very short period, back in the 70’s I actually worked on the kilns there, though not these bottles.
