The once thriving factory of world reknown pottery firm Royal Doulton has come down to this. Burslem, so called mother town of the Potteries, lost its heart when on 30 September 2005, the Nile Street factory closed. A few items are now made at Wedgwood in Barlaston, south of the Potteries Conurbation. Almost all other Doulton pieces are made in Indonesia.
July 2010 saw the factory in this state.
