In the UK Ford’s truck manufacturing operation has had various names; Fordson between 1933 and 1939, Fordson Thames then until 1957 and Ford Thames from 1957 to 1965

LYR 400 in red is a petrol driven, 1951 Fordson Thames 4D.
SXF 240 in yellow is a 4 cyl diesel version of 1958.

The 4D has a special place in my heart as these were the first vehicles I ever drove – at the tender age of 13.

This pair was seen at the 2013 Llandudno Transport Festival.

Excellent! It must have been a terrific experience for a 13 year old driving that 4D!

  • Cheers Bill, and thanks for the faves. It was exciting at first but soon became the norm – plus it was about 4:00am on a Saturday morning, yawn
