I woke up and saw you;
eyes flooded.
you were overwhelmed;
how my body lay before you.

No evidence; no scars,
sickening seamless skin.
yellow-gray. Almost bruised.

Vacant eyes; dribbled chin.
makeup still perfect-
like a piece of art.
For what?

I saw your face fall,
when my heart stopped;
when my body failed you.

I saw your eyes;
swollen, widened.
your throat closed slightly
as you held back bitter confusion.

my limbs lay peaceful;
no longer knotted in agony-
yet my hands still reach
for the comfort of yours.

Muted screams;
hysterical apologies;
always incomplete.
some how suddenly gone.

Am I in peace?
