Circular Quay (West), The Rocks & Royal Yacht Britannia, Sydney 1963 by

This photo gives a much closer view of the Royal Yacht Britannia and of the Rocks area of Sydney as it was in March 1963.

You can also see the crowds of people trying to get a closer view of the Britannia.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh were then in Australia primarily to attend Canberra’s jubilee celebrations which commemorated the fiftieth anniversary of the naming of the capital. The tour lasted from 18 February to 27 March

The corners of the buildings in the foreground are a couple of the piers at Circular Quay.

The photo was taken from the top of the AMP building.

Nice one Adrian, the scanner is doing a great job!

  • Thanks Trish. After using the scanner for several days I realised that it was not producing anywhere near as good an image as my Canoscan 8400F flatbed scanner with negative or slide attachment and set to 3200 dpi. It takes a LOT longer to produce each image but I am more than happy with the results.

That’s interesting to know. I have read a bit about scanners and they mostly didn’t get very good reviews, so it’s on the backburner for now. Anyway, I have heaps of current stuff to work with as I take too many each month and am a couple of months behind …..

  • Yes, after looklng at scanners such as this sone for a long time i thought I had chosen well. Then again, maybe it’s just my lack of technological skills that is the problem. My problem is that I have so many photos, both recently taken and going way back, that I tend to use the scattergun approach – I follow whatever whim inspires me on a particular day.
