Golfing Legends: Jack Nicklaus - Australian Golf Open, The Lakes, Sydney, 1964 by

This shot is of the great American golfer, Jack Nicklaus on the 4th tee at the Lakes Golf Club, Sydney, on his way towards winning the 1964 Australian Open.

Nicklaus won after an 18 hole play off with the New Zealand golfer, Bruce Devlin, with his most memorable shot being a full-blooded drive from the tee over 325 metres of lake to the pocket-sized green on the double water-carry 16th hole.

This was the first of six of Nicklaus’ Australian Open wins.
