Antarctic Beech Tree Lamington NP Queensland by

These magnificent gnarled monsters are relics of the ancient Gondwanaland, with some being aged up to 2000 years. There are several large stands of these endangered trees within Lamington National Park, with many being on the 23km Border Walk which links the O’Reillys and Binna Burra resorts.

    Adrian this is wonderful.
Although not at the moment threatened, would you like to add this to the group Endangered Plants as I believe these lovely old ‘monsters’ of yours should be protected.

  • Thank you kalaryder. I most certainly will!

  • Two featured works in one day in the one group! I am flattered. Thank you.

I’m like you… if I see something like this in nature I simply must stop and look in awe of its wonder.

  • I agree. We made a special trip late last year to find these magnificent trees and weren’t disappointed – they are awe-inspiring.
