Taken near the village of Breadalbane, Prince Edward Island, Canada with a 3MP autofocus point-&-shoot camera.
This is the first in a series of three works commemorating the passing of my father, and taken while visiting him in the last months of his life. My father having suffered for many years, my parents came to believe in the transitory nature of life, and that death was a passing into the light of Christ’s love.
This piece is meant to symbolize this belief. The fallen tree emerges from the shadows of waning life to point the soul’s way to the soft glow of the rural PEI landscape that my father loved so much and eternal life (as represented by the evergreens beyond the tree).
The tree that the fallen tree points to is the evergreen featured in Mourning in Winter #2 (Two Trees).
