I revisited granville island again a few days ago, and revisited this part of the park where i shot “Afternoon in the Park”, and spotted this elderly lady and her dog. She was playing with her dog, which was quite well trained from the looks of it, and followed her every command. It was quite entertaining to watch actually. For some reason she knew i was going to school and taking photography courses. She asked me if I went to Emily Carr University, which was located in granville island as well, not too far from this location, and i just said no…. anyways, hope you guys like this piece. wish it was a bit brighter that day. i find the flash kind of takes away from the ambient mood of this place and shot.
Location: Granville Island, Vancouver BC Canada.
I’m so happy that this image was used to promote a new challenge for the Which Way, Walk way, Path Ways club on november 18, 2009

This is lovely Adrian! I can sense the connection between the lady and her dog!
Thanks Vicki. you should’ve been there though. the dog was so well disciplined. in this frame, she made the dog stand there until she told him to drop the ball and go. i could’ve done a slow shutter if i had my tripod! i always wondered how dogs can be trained like that. when i had a dog, i can only tell it to come to me or get out hahahaha.
