Artist's Description

“In this world hate will never be ended by hatred but by love, this is an eternal truth…..” (Boeddha)

I made this picture in a little village in the neighbourhood of Kratie (Cambodia).

The monks follow a strict lifestyle. They are celibate (unmarried), but have a few necessary possessions and they are depend on the villagers for food, clothing and shelter. The amenities of a monk include: begging bowl, a razor, a needle and a sieve. The begging bowl is a sign of Buddha’s spiritual dominion. The strainer is for getting insects out of his drinking water. Not so much for their own health but to save those animals.

Greetings from Zealand, Netherlands,
Adri
