~Crave the Eire~

How very wind blown this looks so fresh and crisp and clean
the ocean is so crystal blue the grass so very green
the rocks are black by the sea and brown from the sun’s caress
but none of it makes me crave to be there any less

Mind you I’d miss my gumtrees
and the scent of eucalypt on the breeze
and the warble of maggies and whip if a bell
even the screeches of cockies if truth tell

So perhaps just a visit to whet my appetite
I’ll stay a while and poke around and maybe stop the night
perhaps I’ll stay a goodly month and really look around
go pub crawling all over and sleep in my swag on the ground

I’d love to sing at a cleidah and dance on a cobbled street
hear tales of old from wizened men whilst warmed by fires of peat
and tell a few yarns of my own sing a bush ballad or two
and spend the time appreciating the likeness of me to you

Sadly then I’d come on home and tell my mob where’d I’d been
I’d waffle on for hours and hours of who I’d met and what I’d seen
by day I’ll dream of Ireland and my time on her comely shore
at night I’ll wish I were back there and be Eire forever more!

I saw this crisp scene Valencia Island Lighthouse photographed by Pablotguerrero and as usual words flowed.

Check out this awesome art and come dream of Eire with me!
Enjoy!

adgray is a writer and a poet
- telling stories all her life,
- writing them down once she learnt how
“Scribbling! Always scribling!”
… and no there was nothing to be done about it!
Her poetry came later when the gift found her to be a ZETE segue (Zographonic Extemporanious Treatise Ekphrasis)
At times she can go into a trance-like state as poetry flows through her to the page and screen

Absolutely beautifully written I felt all those experiences even drank the drink ….. such a beautiful place to go …… such nice people too…… friendly and kind. To hear them sing their Gaelic songs on fiddles or their drums. Such beauty I remember it so well! Thank You for bringing some lovely memories of my past! Beautiful! – David :>))

  • Thanks David
I’m yet to go but I have this insane feeling that when I get there I will know each place, every nook and cranny and the way to go down each road!
Glad my words can fill your heart with good memories!

    Lovely imagery…

I think a lot of us with this common ancestry have felt our very bones yearn for the green fields and the rocky shorelines :)
