The days are numbered and the wise wont forget
Will we trade independence for suspicion and fear
Will we even question all those we hold dear
For then they’ll have won the enemy and their ways
They’ll have eaten our self strength and numbered our days!
Have we forgotten to live and let live?
Should twisted bitterness be all that we give?
What of our values and that of respect?
What of letting each other live lives without regret?
Innocent ‘til proven guilty does that not count anymore
Or is it only for the rich and too expensive for the poor
But the wealth is with the terror and the righteous poorer now
Yet goodness will prevail though please don’t ask me how
For the battle will be fierce and the winner bear the scars
But the battle will be lost if we cast away our stars
So wrap the cloak of liberty about your shoulders square
We’ll add our cross of southern skies to support you with our care
Don’t let the rotters eat our soul and control us from within
With open eyes we’ll smile to all and teach them with our grin
That all are welcome to happiness a life of hope and amity
Provided it hurts no other we can live in peace and harmony
