Incident Information

The Yea – Murrindindi fire is burning on the Western and Eastern side of the Black Range continues to experience active fronts and fire activity due to Southerly winds

The communities of Connellys Creek, Crystal Creek, Scrubby Creek and Native Dog Creek may be impacted by this fire

Crews have been working very hard to establish control lines along the Whanregarwen Road from the Maroondah Highway to Molesworth.

*NB: This fire is now threatening one of our major water catchments – the Upper Yarra Dam and then on eastwards to the Thompson Lake damn! Let alone the threat to Melbourne’s water supply, if it gets that far the Bunyip fire could join it & then it’s back up into the High Country AGAIN!!

Acheron, Cathedral Lane, Thornton – Taggerty Road, Bulls Lane

Incident Information

The Yea – Murrindindi fire burning on the north front in the Blue Range is experiencing continuing fire activity due to south easterly winds.

Control lines are established along the Power lines between Taggerty and Snobs Creek. Crews overnight having been working very hard to consolidate these lines.

The communities of Acheron, Cathedral Lane, Thornton – Taggerty Road, Bulls Lane, may be directly impacted by this fire

The Murrindindi – Yea fire burning around the east and west side of the Black Range is experiencing continuing fire activity due to southerly winds. There is increased fire activity towards the Northern end of the Black Range.

Yarck, Caveat, Cathkin, Spaniaks rd, Killingworth rd, Frog Ponds rd, Murrindindi rd, Cheviot rd and Nashs Rd

Incident Information

The Yea – Murrindindi Fire, burning near Alexandra is burning in a Northerly direction and is estimated to be around 100,000 hectares in size.

The Members of the community near the Yea – Murrindindi Fire who where under smoke columns yesterday can expect similar conditions today.

Even though the fire is not currently posing a threat, the communities in the vicinity of Yarck, Caveat, Cathkin, and communities in vicinity of the following roads Spaniaks rd, Killingworth rd, Frog Ponds rd, Murrindindi rd, Cheviot rd and Nashs Rd should be alert for possible spot fires thrown ahead of the main fire.

The Alexandra, Thornton, Rubicon, Snobs Creek and Eildon communities still need to remain vigilant, but are under no immediate threat of fire.

Be aware that there is potential for the Goulbourn Valley Highway between Yea and Cathkin from around Midday.

Report any flaming embers to 000. Burnt Material will not start fires even though they may be smoking.

Fire fighting agencies and the community continue to work towards improving Alexandra’s preparations and extensive fire protection works have been completed.

Residents should also consider their Fire Action Plans and be pro- active in assessing whether they should be enacted.

Farmers should ensure that stock is in appropriate secured paddocks, where fences have been cut during the construction of control lines.

This one is threatening Eildon Lake our Largest water catchment [even if it is only at 22%]

- To Communities in Maroondah area Healesville, Chum Creek, Badger Creek, Steels Creek, Dixons Creek, Yarra Glen, Toolangi and Castello. Communities in Yarra area Warburton, Reefton, Wesburn, Millgrove, Yarra Junction, Gladysdale, Powelltown,

Maroondah
Fires continue to burn south east and north of Toolangi and east and north of Healesville. Residents are advised that fire activity in these areas remains high and need to be vigilant and aware of the localised change in conditions.

Increased fire activity has also been detected in the vicinity of Mount St Leonards.

Crews will work today on strengthening strategic control lines and subject to appropriate weather conditions, will burn out areas of unburnt fuels between active fire and control lines. Areas likely to experience increased smoke from these burns include Toolangi and communities in the vicinity of Mt Riddell.

Communities in Healesville, Chum Creek, Badger Creek, Steels Creek, Dixons Creek, Yarra Glen, Toolangi and Castello are advised to remain alert to fire activity.

Yarra
Fires continue to burn in the vicinity of the Upper Yarra Dam and east of Big Pats Creek. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and aware of localised change in conditions.

Fire also continues to burn in the Bunyip State Park. Residents in the Yarra Valley including communities in the vicinity of Warburton, Reefton, Wesburn, Millgrove, Yarra Junction, Gladysdale, Powelltown, Launching Place, Don Valley, Hoddles Creek, Woori Yallock and Yellingbo may be experiencing increased smoke from this fire and associated containment strategies which include controlled burning

Multiple emergency services, including CFA, DSE, DPI, Parks Victoria, Tasmania Fire Services, Melbourne Water, Victoria Police and the Shire of Yarra Ranges, are continuing to focus on the protection of key community infrastructure, townships and water catchment in the Maroondah/Yarra Complex.

Residents can expect to see continued and increased fire activity that is monitored and will be responded to accordingly by fire crews. Residents are advised to be aware of emergency vehicles and requested to keep a safe distance from emergency operations.

Downgrade Message – Alert to Awareness – Beechworth Fire 10.15am
- for The communities of Beechworth, Myrtleford, Stanley, Dederang, Gundowring, Gundowring Upper, Glen Creek,Kergunyah South, Mudgeegonga, Bruarong, Kancoona, Kancoona South, Murmungee, Yackandandah andRunning Creek

Incident Information

The Beechworth Fire is currently burning within containment lines in the Beechworth, Myrtleford and Stanley areas. The fire has burnt approximately 30,000 hectares and mild weather conditions are helping fire fighters contain the fire.

The communities of Beechworth, Myrtleford, Stanley, Dederang, Gundowring, Gundowring Upper, Glen Creek, Kergunyah South, Mudgeegonga, Bruarong, Kancoona, Kancoona South, Murmungee, Yackandandah and Running Creek are currently not under threat from this fire.

Residents from these areas need to be aware that there is still fire activity in the area due to backburning operations. These operations will assist fire fighters to contain the fire, but will cause increased smoke levels.

Any change to the current fire situation will be immediately communicated on ABC radio.

Alert Message – Bunyip Ridge Fire 10.15am
- to the communities in the area of Nayook and Neerim Junction

Incident Information

The Bunyip Ridge fire is burning in the Bunyip State Park and State Forest areas between Gembrook, Powelltown, Neerim Junction and Tonimbuk and is estimated to be approximately 25,000 hectares in size.

Even though the fire is not currently posing a threat, the communities in the area of Nayook and Neerim Junction need to be aware that fire activity is continuing in the area and has the potential to impact directly.

Residents may see some localised spotting around McIntyre Road.

There will also be increased smoke in the area due to blacking out and back burning being undertaken as part of suppression efforts.

Alert Message – Redesdale-Coliban Park Road Fire – 2.00pm
- To the communities of
Glenhope and areas of Boyers Rd, Haires Lane, Buntings Rd and Coombe Lane

Incident Information

DSE and CFA tanker crews will continue to work on the perimeter of the Redesdale Coliban Park Road fire today, to strengthen containment lines given the expected stronger winds today.

The fire is no longer expanding, but logs, stumps and trees inside the perimeter are still burning, and while the communities of Glenhope and in the areas of Boyers Rd, Haires Lane, Buntings Rd and Coombe Lane are no longer under direct threat from this fire, residents should still remain alert.

Incident Information

The Churchill – Jeeralang Fire is no longer posing a direct threat to these communities. However residents need to remain alert due to the level of fire activity in surrounding areas.

This is the first fire under suspicion of Arson

Awareness Message – Dargo-White Timber Spur – 11.00am
– for the communities 15 kilometres NNW of Dargo, in East Gippsland

Incident Information

An alpine fire is burning 15 kilometres NNW of Dargo, in East Gippsland. It is approximately 15,000 hectares in size. This fire is not currently posing a threat to communities.

The fire activity is currently quiet. DSE crews are using this time to complete control lines in readiness for back burning operations when weather permits. DSE are ready and prepared to increase their on ground firefiighters and machinery to commence backburning when weather conditions are suitable.

The Dargo High Plains road remains closed to traffic.
