~ a brilliant flight! ~

In the sunshine and laughter I rose my head high
proudly smiling and reaching up to the sky
But anchored to the grate of a vendor’s van
I’m finally transferred to a sweaty greedy hand
“I want to hold it!! No! I will hold it I will !!!”

I held my breath waiting patiently until
with a screech of annoyance that hand lets me fly
free as a bird up into the sky
I rise and rise never to return
the wind sends me off without a concern

All the rest of the day I fly where I will
over city and bay field and hill
til suddenly my play is rudely cut short
I’m no longer going up like I thought I ought !

The cool evening breeze brings me gently down
I am for a park in the centre of town
and there in a tree my ribbon is snagged
and slowly I rest my life has now sagged
and as I deflate I know I shan’t fly again
but I am so grateful that there wasn’t any rain!

~ a brilliant flight! ~ by

The awesome Mr Mark German Saw This and as per usual I heard words!

Life is like that, breaking free of that sweaty childhood to fly and explore fanned on by winds to observe the world from our own perspective and then to slowly deflate and find our resting place!

balloon, life, fun, poetry, wind, freedom, happiness, flying, inspired, return, treatise, ekphrasis

adgray is a writer and a poet
- telling stories all her life,
- writing them down once she learnt how
“Scribbling! Always scribling!”
… and no there was nothing to be done about it!
Her poetry came later when the gift found her to be a ZETE segue (Zographonic Extemporanious Treatise Ekphrasis)
At times she can go into a trance-like state as poetry flows through her to the page and screen
Thank you for coming to read my words! ~ adgray~

Good words to go with the deflated balloon, I have a photo of a bunch of them escaping and hooked into a tree. :)

Who says I don’t already talk funny, Trace xx

  • I refuse to believe you talk up here all the time! it just doesn’t gel with the image … and I don’t consider an accent talking funny! lol

My ex [Scottish] was asked by my sister [blonde]
    ’Do you understand thick accents?"
ex replied -“Well I understand yours”
sister goes on “No I mean like Pakistani…?”

I’m on the floor with tears in my eyes trying so hard not to PMSL!!!! LOL ☺
