Here in Australia our Bush is regenerated by fire! For new growth to happen the whole place has to go up in smoke in huge bushfires to generate the ferocious heat to crack the seedpods and start the new growth again.
so what looks like a moonscape the day after the fire will within a few short days resemble a mossy landscape!
The awesome Mr Steven Sass posted this shot of after the fire and sparked off my words again!

you never know what is there
struggling up through the soft red dust
reaching for sweet fresh air
Sleeping for ages in cold slumber
waiting for fierce heat
seeds scattered there from long ago
ready for natures repeat
A spark to bring fear gives floral delight
the seed’s hard casing is split
caught in the softness of the ash
moistened by rains first spit
Then suddenly the greenness shows
and the buds come into view
where what had been thought devastated
life is now renewed

A lot of plant seeds need to be almost burned to start life … most of the wonderful Droseras in Australia are like this … brilliant!
