~ Valley of Hair ~

Inspired by an unusual view of my favourite animal [& preferred mode of transport] posted by the wonderful Sande Elkins

Valleys of hair beckon me
to nestle here is bliss
From up there the world that I see
shines with the warmth of the sun

I dream of the valley each night when I sleep
and the gentleness of the body contained
The strength in the power driving so deep
as effortlessly we run

Let me return to the valley of hair
where the challenge for life invigorates
The freedom of pace is ours to share
and existence blends into one

    Thank you!
I love horses and riding and so this is sort of second nature to me! It always has been!
    Hopefully this poem depicts that!

Hee. You got me with the title. I do love hair. Didn’t know it was about a horse. Always been jealous of those who could ride. Nice sentiment. Aren’t they beautiful?

  • adgray replied

    Yep!
They say that if you can handle a horse you can handle life! That’s why many programs for people re-educating themselves after mental breakdowns &/or substance abuse use horse handing to help build confidence.
So stop being jealous of us and go for a ride! :O)

this is really great! it took me a moment to realize it was about riding horses….well done :)

Good I was hoping the action was ambiguous in this – It is a love of mine, a second nature! like breathing or writing or reading or singing.
Thank you for reading my words :O)

this is wonderful.. i had to read it twice.. yes it is about horses and riding..
it makes me miss my two old girls i had i would ride one and let the other gallop behind me..
they were mother and daughter.. and loved to follow one another.. in the breeze of flying mane..

I wish I had the place to own a horse. I have ridden loads in my time and met one I really wanted to buy, Karimba- but there is nowhere to put a horse in a flat above a deli in the middle of the city! Although not so long ago there would have been places to keep a horse in the city! I remember Night cart man and his old nag, and the milko & baker’s horses and even now there are still some horses trotting about the city streets but they have stables and land way down here in the semi-rural suburbs and are trucked in for their days work.
Cant wait for the petrol to run out and we can go back to using these gorgeous loving loyal animals again :O)
