~ Whistle ma Wanderings Hame ~
Another of my RB art inspired poetry.
This came to me seeing our good friend Joak’s wonderful photo of glorious majestic mountains!
I “heard” it in a Scottish accent but could not write it with one so with help from my other good friend Jen Whyte it has been transposed into the Scottish sounding text so you can ken what I heard :O)

High abin heather and glen
An’ think o’ the eons of courage and prayer
’Til a whistle ma wanderings hame
Ye cannae be greetin’ I’ve no’ been gone lang
Ye’ cannae be hiding ma bairn, my young
And ye cannae be wishing the day wisnae done
When I whistle ma wanderings hame
The valleys I’ve travelled the hills I have climbed
And the folks I’ve speared wi’ in body and mind
And ye’ cannae believe the sichts I hae seen
As I whistle my wanderings hame
But I willnae gae wandering awa’ again noo
I willnae go spearing how faur I can go
I’ll bide near ma hame hearth and play with my son
And whistle ma wanderings wi’ you my love
And whistle ma wanderings wi’ you
and in English
Polish the silver that shines on the top
High above the heather and glen
and think of the eons of courage and prayer
and whistle my wandering back home
And you cannot be crying I’ve not been gone long
You cannot be hiding my bairn my young
And you cannot be wishing the day was not gone
when I whistle my wandering home
The valleys I’ve travelled the hills I have climbed
and people I’ve spoken with body and mind
and can you believe the sights I have seen
as I whistled my wandering home
but I will not go wandering away again now
I will not go seeing what yonder I can
I will stay near my home hearth and play with my son
and whistle my wandering with you, my love
and whistle my wandering with you

its a million times better in scots is it no…but then everythin scots is better! jen has done a braw translation ta for the promo oan ma work …it needs aw the help it kin get! yer poetry is great by the way its amazin whit ye kin dae when ye dinny huv tae clean the hoose!
