~ Soft the Water Flows ~

Another bubble art inspired verse… sorry good art just moves me to poetry :o)
This new artist I have discovered is Di Jenkins and her work is Split Stream

This is a place I hold dear to my heart. I cannot count the times I’ve hiked the tracks of Kirth Kiln! .... well for the last 30 years I have been a scout and Gembrook is the home of our scouting world in Victoria – Gilwell Scout camp! Right next door to Kirth Kiln. But beware NEVER swim in the Lochin alone! [the little lake that feeds this stream, situated by the bridge of the road at the boarder of the camp and the forest] – even on the hottest summer day the water would barely reach 5’’C !!! Definitely takes your breath away!
Thank you for this gorgeous shot that takes me home to my stomping ground :o) [Literally!]

Please view Di’s amazing portfolio
Enjoy & Keep Happy! :o)

~ Soft the Water Flows ~ belongs to the following groups:

Aussie Bush Paintings, Australian Bush ☼ (aspects of realistic views - ie N0 Abstracts or Macros please!) and WMG

Soft the water flows
between the harshness of the rock
Time for me to rest a while
and think and just take stock
Where do these paths I take lead me
through bends and bush and plain
through mud and dust and up the hills
and down them once again
But there is no where else on earth
that I would rather be alone
even isolated by crowded space
this bush is always home

Great work. I love it! I went for a drive to the bush over the weekend to look for snow- but there wasn’t any. But it was still great to be away from the hustle and bustle of lil old Orange!

  • adgray replied

    Snow ????
Look I know it’s cold but NOT YET!!! :o)
Or were you meaning ….... ?? naaaaa! :o)
must look you up if ever I trundle through Orange again :o) ... mind you only time I have ever gone through Orange was when I was in a bus going to and from Brisbane and even then it was just a wave from Parks as we whizzed by at some strange hour of the morning! :o)
Thanks for reading my words :o)

I like your rhythm here, but why are the rocks “harsh”?

  • adgray replied

Well look at them! Or not and you can just visualize great big boulder rocks! They are Granite boulders and solid things that the water is working hard at smoothing but they are not giving or yielding as they channel the water in the ways that have been created by their immovable presence and thus I picked Harshness as a contrast to the softness and the liquidness of the movement of the water around them.

Thank you so much for your question it allowed me to analyse my own subconscious choice of words :o) Sometimes I forget that because I am writing to a picture others may not view the picture that gave me the inspiration for my poem.
    Chookas :o)

It was just in a river I usually find the rocks to be smooth. But then I thought if you’d bumped your head on one in a boat ride then they might indeed be harsh to you. Have you got a pic of these? They sound unusual.

  • adgray replied

If you look up ^ in the Description block beside my poem there is a link through to the photo that had inspired the poem, entitled “Split Stream”
I have been doing this for a while – seeing a picture and writing the poem that floods my brain at the sight of it! It Doesn’t happen with every picture and sometimes I will be drawn back again and again to a shot and then the poem comes, as if my brain is thinking about it and just wants another peek or two lol
Thanks for reading my words :o)

Thankyou. But if you see the shine on these rocks you’ll know they’re pretty smooth even though they’re pitted. Love your rhythms though. Good write. Just got to touch those rocks.

Thank you for reading my words!
You will find the rocks in Kirth Kiln near Gembrook in Victoria’s Dandenong Ranges – easy to get to – Have fun!
