Last Year after a life of longing, my mother [aged 82] finally went to the place of her ancestors; the Family Smart in Scotland.
This is my mother Lorna Edith (Smart) Gray with the headstone of the family grave with her grandparents; Thomas Henderson Smart & Agness Middlemas, and the Uncles and Aunts (some of whom died in the 1st WW), none of them she had met. Pity Mum didn’t get to meet up with any remaining cousins while she was there.
“O for the touch of a vanished hand
and the sound of a voice that is still!”
Something both my parents are accutely aware of having become Grandparents themselves – Cousins Aunts and Uncles are all so very loved in a family clan.
I wanted to share the images my mother and brother took
This is a series and the best ones I hope to make a calendar for her to remember her trip by!
Thank you to the awesome dsargent for taking some shots of the town several years ago for me to purchase a calendar for my mother’s 80th
