Bush Trail Ride
I am First & Foremost a Writer but I do have skills in other genres of art
This is one of my paintings I made a few years ago now (about 20 lol)
It reminds me of my favouritre ride told in
A yarn for you – Karimba’s Ride-
In my youth I had ridden trail horses so many times up a bush track like this (up & down Mt Olinda from Kilsyth, all around Beechworth & over the Bunyip Ridge), that when I stopped riding [& became “a responsible wife & mother” for everyone else] I missed it so much I had to paint it. This is a mixture of acrylic poster paints & left over house paint on a fine piece of old Particle Board [you know the kind from the bottom of an old drawer …. cos that’s where I got it from lol]
So come for a ride with me?

Thank you
I haven’t many of these pictures of mine and the other ones are completely different! lol I have one here and my mother has “Stored” the others for me lol …. I may never see them again lol
But my big sister was a far better artist than I and so I never explored my possibilities … individuality was promoted in our family in stead of sharing interests.
Yep I’ll get back on a horse soon … I have another surgery this year to undergo and recover from and then just watch me – don’t blink!! lol
Thanks for looking at my art!

kalaryder
Lovely and soft artistry
adgray replied
Funny how it looks so soft on this but in effect it’s quite rugged and rough! lol The paint is all lumpy in long textured lines symbolic of the bush depths and the bark on the scratchy trees & the twigs & sticks that stick out and cane your legs! lol
Thanx for looking at my actual painted visual art! :O)

Lovely work , you should do more .
adgray replied
Thank you But I don’t think I’d create half as good again … I tend to go through phases and “Conquer” something then move on. These two were done half my life ago! and I have done so many other things since But you never know!

adgray replied
Thanks Dawn it looks it doesn’t it but it’s so rough to feel … after I painted the back ground with the acrylics, I literally put the house paint on with a spatula … well an old bone handle knife anyway! lol
But I’m so glad you like it!

Wow Alyssa – I LOVE this! It is so ‘painterly’. The colours are superb. It looks ‘soft’ but there is a lot of texture happening here too. Did you use a palette knife? Get those paints out again girl!!!!! XO
adgray replied
Painterly lol
I had not been up that Howqua track till this year but I could see this up there I was thinking a bit of Beechworth when I painted it
It’s done with house paints on an old draw bottom with the base done in acrylic Poster paints and yes i used an old bone handle knife and brushes & the end of the brush too! lol
I did it in about an hour … once the base dried! lol
It needs to be framed I suppose! lol
Thank you for coming to look and liking what you saw!
From such an awesome artist as yourself that is very very high praise indeed! I am honoured! ☼
Thank you! X♥X
Lynda Robinson
I saw what ‘mediums’ you used in your description, which just makes it all the more interesting. What other gems have you got hidden away? We must have followed each others footsteps around Victoria! The Beechworth area is lovely, but the town is a a bit too ‘touristy’ now! And what’s the deal about the Beechworth Bakery? the bread doesn’t hold a candle to Doug’s Hot Bread Shop in Seymour! The Howqua area is one of the most incredible places I have ever been in my entire life. I just love it.
adgray replied
LOL I loved Doug’s bread is he still there? lol
My fave camp-spot is directly across the Golburn from Trawool [which I used to clean & do Kitchen prep in when it was a pub before it was renovated into the huge resort thingy!] You respectfully went down a private road off the Yea Rd just before the bridge to the 8acre small Nat park spot at the end of it on the river bank! Aaaah bliss!
Now where else have I been? ummmm Chesshunt? Violet town, How bout Licola and Walhalla [but I was only a kid at Walhalla] Negambie … I worked at Niggies there for 2 years …. I know Ruffy!!!! the pies at the Ruffy bakery!!! yuuuummmm! lol
Kate Kelly’s Mt Dandenong? lol
Why is it that when we mentally do a tour of our fave places it includes the food aspect? lol
Thank you for the additional chat! :O)

BLYTHART
When I take over the world, I shall have you imprisoned in a studio where you will be forced to produce hundreds of paintings like this one and the previous one. Don’t worry … after each dozen paintings you produce you will be allowed to roam free in search of inspiration for a whole day.
Teasing aside though, I am REALLY impressed by the two paintings you have just uploaded.

This is truly lovely .. the pastels are soooo inviting!!!! Have you taken riding up again??? It’s soooo sad when we feel compelled to give up our passions … lose a part of ourselves … doesn’t mean we can’t find them again, though!!!!
adgray replied
Yep it is sad
Right now I am in no physical shape to ride – I am waiting for abdominal surgery but once that is done I will work hard to regain my muscle tone and then I’ll be back in the saddle licketty split!

love your writing…. I had to hide alll I did from my parent and she burnt all my art … nasty witch ….. made me a super nice person though LOL so say myself to me .
adgray replied
(LOL you fell asleep & I dunno what made me take so long to reply lol)
Perhaps that’s my blessing making me a nice person also! I have a witch too my step-mum and can you believe it she was also my first mother-in-law!!! lol She just hogs my Dad all to herself and then claims I and my siblings would be hypocrites for attending his funeral considering we never contact him during his life! SHIESH!!! she makes me spit chips sometimes!
But I gave my Mum a booklet of my poetry yesterday for her 81st birthday for me thus laying aside the 40 year battle of her telling me my writing was just time wasting scribble! Dunno if she’s read them yet but at least I know she got them!

When my mind is rendered speachless, I’m enjoying ART, the percussion of the Heart keeps the beat, of creativeness Alive ! I need but to get in touch with the light of the tune that got me here. Yes, YOU DO HAVE SKILLS in PAINTING! This is such a lovely orchestrated piece! I so admire your talent which looks like it may even be therapeutic for you….I say this because I can relate to the responsible wife & mother part you wrote about! I also say this because of the passion & drama which is brought out in your painting. This beautiful scene has a personality of its’ own & just looks so REAL!
