you have the story and you have seen the house!! I can see you both standing there all exited and giggling like schoolgirls… must have made you feel young (!!!!) again to be in this adventure..
adgray replied
Dunno about young ….. mind you I’m having small giggling fit now thinking of Mick as a school girl lol
It was sort of strange … exciting and daring and slightly embarrassing I guess after all what do you say to a person ??
“Hi we want to shoot your house for redbubble”
I mean taken literally like that the guy could have had us locked up lol
or if you were the guy what do you reply?
Well I’ll let you know when we go back and get the photographs! :o)
and yes so many stories so little fingers :o)

I have been meaning to comment on this but work and life just got in the way. I am so thrilled you guys found this place, and the house. I hope you get to photograph the house one day, I am so curious to see what it looks like if this gate is any indication! Great sluething you two!
adgray replied
This is FUN! :o)
We’re gonna drop in tomorrow and try again to catch the owners. if no one is home again I might just get Mick to photograph anyway while I write a note and leave it for them but I hope not I’d like to offer to help with the restoration work…. it is simply a gorgeous place!
Let you know soon ok :o)

I must say I have not seen the gate you photographed and do not know where the gates or the house is located. But, as a visiting photographic judge said to my local camera club that I am a member, if you see a scene, object or a person that you think would look great in print,Just ask, would mind if I take a photograph. A polite request may even result with kind reply “yes you may”. But you must ask the question first. Enjoy the time and the photographs you take. Ian
adgray replied
We’re TRYING to ask lol we just cant get the owners at home! lol we’ll try again on the 9th May :o)
Thank you so much for your encouragement and support :o)
And for putting me on your watch list too :o)
Keep Happy :o)

When you find the owner they should be happy just that you have asked if you can photograph of their home. Try taking a photograph of the scene from different angles. Enjoy the experience and have fun.

Sorry for the delay in replying – No go <( Sadly so far the owners have not given us permission to photograph it. As we now live 4 hours away we cannot afford the trip on the off chance again <( But we still have friends in the area so with luck the next visit to them we can drop round a score a shot <) the best we can do and again sorry for the delay in the reply but thank you so much for your advice and your support! :O)
Keep Happy :O)

That gate and the story makes this one very intriguing photograph! Nice capture, very interested to see if there’s any more pictures to come! :)
adgray replied
Oh Sherri you have no idea what has gone on about this gate lol – there is such a story in my head and I have no time or peace to get it written and that is frustrating enough! But to not be able to show you all the gorgeous property awaiting behind that gate …. well I must respect the privacy of the owners <) I just hope they think it a possibility to run it as a B&B – it would be a fabulous place to base while exploring the wonders of Victoria’s west country.
Thanks for popping by for a peek at the mystery beyond the gates! :O) ♥

What a magical looking place! Great composition.
adgray replied
Thanks Krys and for popping into my bubble for a bit :O)
It holds such a fascination to me now – bit like a splinter between my toes! lol
I wish I could bring more pics of what lies beyond but as yet no luck – soon I hope soon :O)
Keep Happy! :O)

Such an intriguing story and I can understand how great it would be to photograph the house and grounds. I’m heavily into family history research and often get results from first writing to a person (maybe you will just have to address it to the house number in the street if you dont know the name), enclose your phone details and a stamped, addressed envelope – this inspires them to make contact. Maybe you could request access during another trip and that way you are not arriving on their doorstep. Most people agree (I’ve never had a knock back yet) and love to show off their heritage or pride and joy.
adgray replied
Damn! I did that but forgot to add the stamped self addressed envelope! Buggar! Have to send them another one – would that appear as harassing? too eager and annoying? <(
Philip Johnson
maybe we can do a journal for anyone in that area thats got a camera and time lol
adgray replied
lol that was me :O)
I dunno if there are any bubblers in that area :O) – oooh wait there were a few in Hamilton /Horsham that’s close by ish :O) have to go hunt in my watch list archives :O)
Good idea mate! Thanks Phill :O)
Bev Woodman
Just depends on how long since you made contact as to whether you can write to them again – I wouldn’t do it too soon but if say a month had passed then maybe contact them in someway or other explaining you had written before – even a phone call to them if you have a number explaining you had written – that way you are not barging in unannounced. But sometimes people just aren’t interested in sharing their heritage properties – sad!
adgray replied
Ok so I could try again in a few weeks then – good! :O)
It’s not only the house though, the man who built it was a very prominent person in Victoria’s construction in the 1800s. He’d built the other house on skik’s folio “Glenormiston” first but the house beyond the Noorat gates was bigger and grander! I
have this story formed in my head that I must get written soon [cos it’s driving me nuts!] which kind of tells his story but not in an official biographical way – I just wish I could show the bloody property I found! >/ Grrrr it’s annoying! lol :O)
Thanks for popping by and giving me your advice :O) Chookas! ♥

Interesting shot. It certainly makes me want to wander on in!

Must have been quite an impressive estate at one time, the gates and gate post still give evidence to that.
