My Mother’s From An Evelyn Waugh Novel

Well I might seem like a lovely guy
For what seems like most of the time
And I am or pretend to be
And mostly that is just fine

But every now and then -
The occasional moment in awhile
Things get a little out of whack
And my crazy inch soon becomes a mile

I try to do my best to cope
To stay this side of sane
But each time I cross over
It’s getting harder to come back again

I try to bridge the gap
And I call on those near to assist
But with friends and a family like mine
How could I resist

My mother’s from an Evelyn Waugh novel
My father thinks he’s Johnny Cash
It’s no wonder to just exist
I rely on cocaine and hash

My best friend is Betty Ford
And I don’t come down without sarapax
I’m just a tad shy of neurotic
Or at least I would be if I could relax

The real me is some psycho sci-fi sicko
Whose home life is a dream
So don’t let my silence bother you
Or be surprised by my screams

My mother’s from an Evelyn Waugh novel
My father thinks he’s Johnnie Cash.
