Happy Chickens (the life that all chickens deserve to live) by

Doing a good turn, gave me an opportunity to air my protest against animal abuse and factory farming. If you would like to see the whole series please follow this link. http://www.flickr.com/photos/12616079@N00/sets/...
If you have never eaten eggs from chickens that are free and happy, perhaps this will help to change your ways at the supermarket.

Photographed in Frankland River, Western Australia.
Camera Nikon D40

I retired to Frankland River 10 years ago, after living in Perth since 1971; originally I was from Shropshire, England.
Most of my work, is done in the lower south of Western Australia, mainly Frankland, my garden, and Albany. However, I do visit my family who still live in Perth, and try to take the opportunity to photograph other places.

Ah, free range for ever for me Eve. Haven’t bought cage eggs for years. The video is sickening and I also learnt, from a source I can’t remember now, that factory chickens have their beaks removed.

  • I would go without before I ate anything but free range. I think I would be physically sick eating a cage egg, knowing how the hen would be suffering as she laid it. Yes I’ve heard about the beaks too.

We had one and she was smart and came when we called her. I think they are really neat as pets!

  • I couldn’t get over how friendly and inquisitive they all were. As we arrived, they all ran to the gates to meet us.
