don't forget me...
2008. Age 21.
Merry Christmas everyone!
The boy here holds tightly onto his stocking, hoping and wishing to be remembered by Santa. Every year he is forgotten, every Christmas he wakes to an empty stocking… But every year he places it at the end of his bed regardless, for the hope that there is some magic in this world is his greatest gift

It’s beautiful Adz. Did you do those white ornaments in photoshop? The delicacay of the curtains are so well rendered, as well as the patterns on them. The tree too is strikingly detailed. But what I like most of all is the overall use of light and dark (a modern day use of chiaroscuro hehe, one of the first Italian words I learned long before coming here :P). Like many of your work, there is light within the darkness – a sense of hope. In this case it is a light that only reveals itself when it is dark. I do like those bright ornaments in contrast to the dark tree , as well the star in the sky in the dark sky, and the spotlight on the boy in the dark room.

Hello Mui-Ling :-)
Your comments are always so insightful… You somehow manage to peer into the heart of my drawings, seeing exactly what is meant to be seen… looking beneath the lines, through the shades.
You’ve always been such a great support on here, thank you once again mui-ling. I hope you are well x

Hello Rosemary :-)
Thank you for your supportive words and for the favourite! I really am chuffed to bits this has received such postive feedback, and so quickly too.
I hope you had a lovely weekend Rosemary, keep those smiles smiling x

This is so lovely, Adam. I love the way he is staring at the star with his little stocking in hand. So touching and poignant and full of childhood innocence and vulnerability. Bravo. Agnes x

Wow!!! I love it Adam! Your so clever! It so reminds me of when I was a little girl and I used to sneak my dads binoculars to look at the stars at night…I used to be at the window just like this keeping a small opening just enough for me to peek at the stars…and watch the sky over the night….I love this picture!!! The depth, the composition is perfect…the tree is positioned so delightfully.
Adam Stone replied
Thank you Dianna, i can imagine you there as a little girl, bless ya… Standing there with your big heart tingling with excitment, your eyes wide, your hands trembling with anticipation… I’m sure you are still the same! I know i am… I turn back into that little boy every Christmas (and usually a good three months before…).
I’m pleased you like the details, like the placement of the tree… This picture certainly did take a while but your kind words – and the others here, thank you guys – really has made all those hours spent well worth while.
Big hugs Dianna, thank you again x

oh adz…..... i’m sipping coffee and reveling in your talent and big heart…. both are on display here…. you always manage to find the undiluted emotion ..be it hope..sadness.. wishes… joy….... this one is no exception…... for me it’s the snowman….. he is the lil tots secret angel….. just hangin out making sure the boy will be ok…....... maybe by end of my cup i’ll read this and it will make no sense…but for these moments…... this image is as special as you are…........ big hugs…..b
Adam Stone replied
Mr. B, thank you my friend. I’m chuffed to bits you mentioned the little snowman… He started on top of the tree itself, but somehow found himself placed comfortably within those presents.
As usual our thoughts appear scarily connected…
I hope you enjoyed your coffee, i know i could do with one today! Thanks again Mr. B

beautiful words, and I am sure wonderful imagery, looks great artwork, please put it up in colour, so I can enjoy it. love and hugsxxx

Thank you Hilary :-)
How is life treating you? I hope all is well. In regards to putting up in colour, this actually did start as a colour image! However… something just didn’t feel right. The contrast of blacks and white became the strong theme here, like there is always hope within the darkest shades :-)
I am currently working on a handful of Christmas ideas, those (well, at least one!) i’ll make sure burst with multiple splashes of colour. Thank you again Hilary, your support always means a lot x
