Parking Policy
16.0 This policy has been established to reduce backing accidents, which are caused by unsafe backing of a vehicle. The goal is to make the driver of the vehicle aware of the location of his/her vehicle and the presence of other vehicles or objects, which may come into contact with their vehicle.
16.1 This program affects all Departments and Divisions in the following areas, (Ideas and Suggestions)
Public Works
Fleet
Landscaping
Project Administration
Sewer
Streets
Traffic
Trees
Water
Parks and Recreation
Facilities Management
Parks Division
Recreation Division
Library
Book Mobile
Community Development
Building Division
Neighborhood Preservation
Finance
Meter Reader Division All Pool Vehicles
Any individual operating a Vehicle
Public Safety
Animal Control
Fire Division
Fire and Environmental Services
16.2 Policy
1) Once the vehicle is parked the Employee(s) shall place an Orange Cone at the left rear or right rear of the vehicle which ever is applicable.
The Orange Cone is a reminder to see that:
(a) You have parked the vehicle in a safe manner,
(b) That you have room behind the vehicle,
Look behind the vehicle to insure that they have room to back up in a safe manner, pick up the Orange Cone and
Place it in the trunk, or truck bed or proper location on/in the vehicle.
16.3 Always
Think Safety, Look for Hazards, Check your mirrors, Look Out the Windows front, side and back. Proceed with safety.
