A portrait of the Green Long Legged Fly, or Dolichopodid Fly. If you have these flies in your rose garden, it’s a good thing, they love the taste of Aphids. I waited and hung around these guys for a long while, and didn’t unfortunately catch one eating. Not sure how often they do eat. Captured in the Northern Suburbs of brisbane, sitting on a common garden shrub leaf.
They grow to about 6mm in length, and usually bright coloured green in colour. Some varieties have black patches on their wings.
