What a stunning capture, perfect timing to get the surfer on the crest. Wonderful transparent lime green sea and beautiful ochre sky. Another excellent one Adam.

top shot Adam, like the sun on the spray at the top of the wave and also the colour of the wave with the sun coming through it

This took my breath away. I think it’s the clarity in the water. wow, i just love this!

  • AdamDonnelly replied

Thanks Nancy! I’m glad I made it out of bed early that morning.

This is breathtaking. It almost makes me want to start getting out of bed early.

    Almost.

  • AdamDonnelly replied

Yeah I wish I would more often. I got up this morning for the dawn service. Where I took this photo is actually walking distance from my house, so you’d think I’d bother more often! Thanks for the comment & favouriting too Schamathleen!

alot of surf shots, they capture amazingly perfect waves, which to me seems false. this is an honest shot, and the colour of the water, and the way he is positioned on the board… its just a nice shot is what im trying to say haha.

  • AdamDonnelly replied

Thanks Michael. I know exactly what you mean. If you want to see a perfect wave, look in a surf mag you’ll see it to the point of ad nauseum. I still wouldn’t mind capturing the “perfect wave” but its not everything. I’d rather capture perfect light.
