Rooted in Antiquity (2)

The ancient buddhist temple of Ta Prohm, east of Angkor Thom, Cambodia.

This amazing structure was built in the late 12th and early 13th centuries in the Bayon style. Unlike most Angkorian temples, Ta Prohm has been left in much the same condition in which it was found: the photogenic and atmospheric combination of trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle surroundings have made it one of Angkor’s most popular temples with visitors (thanks Wikipedia).

This temple was used as a location for filming of the movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

The tree in this shot is, I believe, a silk-cotton tree (Ceiba Pentandra). Please correct me if I’m wrong!
