Kinderdijk - Forgotten Postcard

I created this image this afternoon in attempt to combat a bout of the blahs and a lack of inspiration. Because I really liked how my last Forgotten Postcard worked out, I thought I’d try to continue the series.

This image was taken back in February, on a grey day, at Kinderdijk in the Netherlands. The windmills of Kinderdijk are one of the best known Dutch tourist sites. They were placed on the list of UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1997.

Like me, the original image needed a bit of perking up. I hope you like the results.

    How did you do that? This is WONDERFUL! You really should supply the Dutch tourist industry with these postcards which I’m convinced would sell like crazy. Good news for the tourist industry, good news for the tourists, and good news for you as the creator! Bet you could make a nice profit!

    Thanks so much Krys, you’re really so kind :) I think sometimes the best way to get over a bad day is just to loose yourself in the creative process… doesn’t always work out well but sometimes working through the blahs can be the best thing for me :)

    Kinderdijk is a truly great place to photograph, I have nearly three films from just one trip, only haven’t found time to scan them yet ;)

    Thank you so much Lenka. I am a texture junkie that’s for sure :) Kinderdijk is a magical place. Whenever I’ve been there the light has been dull and the skies grey but it’s such a timeless place that these antiquing techniques seem to compliment it very well :)
