A gorgeous picture. I’ve seen the devastation in Borneo as well; saw the Sepilok Orang Utan sanctuary at Sandakan. It’s so sad to think of the plight of these beautiful creatures. Maybe your picture can help to stir a few emotions and contribute to an increase in active concern.

What a beautiful photograph, but the words you have written to accompany it are so so very sad and tragic, it makes me feel ashamed to be a human – because of the destruction we have caused to this beautiful planet and the incredible species that live on it or who lived on it but are no longer with us because of the hand of man.

I was aware of the Palm oil industry and it’s destruction of the borneo rainforest, I do actively look for products that do not contain palm oil – as this in my eyes – shows that I do not support the palm oil industry.

Thank you for bringing this terrible fact to the attention of many people who will see this beautiful photograph of yours.

I know, it’s quite scary seeing it in so many different types of products.
If everybody made a decision to stop buying one product that they know contains palm oil – just one product – it would make a difference – not sure how big a difference, but it’s better than standing still. I wish there was something more that I could do – to not only help the orangutans but to also help educate the people of Borneo and the people who buy palm oil products.

My heart sinks just thinking about it, but then again, I feel the same about whaling and bear farms and so many other things!!! Sorry, I didn’t mean to go – feel free to delete!! I’m just passionate about this.

i’ve been to sepilok as well and after visiting wrote a big thing in my travel blog about orangutan survival and extinction that got a lot of feedback about how unbelievable the rapid decline has been over the previous 10 years – apparently it has made a lot of people boycott palm oil products such as snack foods, instant noodles… vegetable oil blends… even rumours of bio-diesel using palm oil these days

I was devastated yesterday when I got a product home from the shops and realised it had palm oil in it!! Sadly it was after i’d opened it… otherwise I would’ve returned it!

We all need to SAY NO TO PALM OIL because that’s what is killing the orangutans.
