God was fishing today
His bait fluffy cotton candy
Floating in the murky peach of dusk
Is He fishing for dinner?
Perhaps He’s lonely
Or melancholy
Sees the sparse stretch of land below
Green, flat, and tamed
Water in narrow strips like scars
Line the land
Criss-cross Her back
Maybe He’s summoning Mother Earth
His partner, corollary
Because He has seen her majestic body
Tied up, raped, and dejected
And He wants to remind her
That she’s not alone
But He won’t come back down
Not here to us
Because we’ve desecrated
This home
And so He urges her to lift her tear filled eyes
To touch the peach fuzz skies
And rise
