God bless America
God bless everyone
Maybe God’s testing America
Maybe it’s time for us to grow up
To open our eyes and wake up
To the fact that the world revolves around the Sun
And not around a large country set between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans
So where shall we place our devotion?
I want y’all to know something about me
I want us all to walk free
Free to love everybody
Equally
So I don’t support our troops
Because I refuse to be duped
Into believing the lies that they try and get us to sign onto
With fake emotion and diehard devotion to a nation
With invisible boundaries
Just so those in power can
Reap more power, can settle their score, can take more
Can bully the “unpopular” nations
Into bowing before our God-blessed state
Behind our mask of assistance
Lies hate
And objectification
Of any nation
That consists of people who
Look different
Talk different
Pray different
Eat different
Love different
Live different
So they’re not God-blessed
They’re not human
The issues are not worth discussing
With Chinese, Iraqis, or Russians
Or anyone else
Because they’re not us
So they’re wrong
They’re not rich
They’re not strong
Tell me – Why should I support my brothers and sisters who go off to participate
In the annihilation and maiming of my other brothers and sisters
Whom I love the same?
It’s doesn’t make sense to me
To conclude I’m not patriotic
When I want my countrymen to stay out of it
All this euphoria
Is turning into hysteria
And my head is spinning
With all the propaganda
And are we winning?
And what’s the score?
And tell me again why we’re fighting this war?
Just make it stop.
I believe in a global community
That we’re all one family
Humanity
So, no, I don’t support our troops in their quest
Only as people
Spiritual beings doing their best
To live a life that leaves the world
A little better than it was before
I love them
And that’s why I can’t support them
When they go off to die
Sucked in by a lie
Created by society
Perpetuated by “we the people”, We
Intoxicated with the elixir of “this is our country”
Hungering for purpose, respect, nobility
We sell their lives
In a futile fight
That plunges us deeper into despair
Reliving history
Taking us back there
To the Dark Ages
Trapping us in cages
Of selfish defense
When will it end?
It seems that we’re devolving
And there’s no solving this mess
Unless
We get together
Rise up and shout
That we were wrong
And that we want out
Bow our heads in humility
Repenting and learning from history
And reaching out
To those from other lands
Putting ourselves in their shoes
In an attempt to understand their position
With compromise, we can all win
When did war
Become this world’s only common method of communication?
Besides music, smiling, and industrialization?
Let’s find a new way to communicate
One not based on hypocrisy, fear of “other” and hate
Let us try
Let’s start here
Let us no longer be ruled by fear
Let’s instead conduct politics with grace
And keep humanity and the whole world safe
And that’s what hope is to me
And a sign that we can move forward
That our consciousness is growing
That we can keep on going
Moving towards the source of all love
So with that, I look above
And humbly state my intention
That the people of the USA
Would take the power back and stage an intervention
That we would love our families
And not allow them to fight for lies
Instead we’d find nobility in fighting for peace
And war as a method of communication would cease

There is a saying in Dutch:
“Wie schrijft, die blijft”
It means something like; the ones in power control.
It’s called detente or diplomacy, and the powers that
be don’t even know how to spell those words let alone
know what they mean. They do know how, and have a
strong desire, to kill. To them nothing else works.
True, rule by fear.
religion is doing that for thousands of years and it seems to work for them.
Power: they ability to make you do something you normally would not do.
How: by fear
I hear you and your words matter. As does your living hope for peace. One of the key issues steering the public to conform to all you address here in this poem is the dissemination of information. So again I say. " Your words matter." And the voice of your art will too. This is the first piece of your art that I’ve seen and read. I found it at Helen Bascom’s Group Current issues. I hope to find the time to read more of your work some day soon.
Loved it.. Well said. maybe Jefferson was right to think that all they had done was to set up the creation of an Empire….. Perhaps if the choices at the vote were more than A or B, this sort of Hell would not happen…….Love to the Universe
