Scott thank you so much i was worried how this image would be received because of the nature of the subject but i feel so passionately about giving a voice to the little girl that was abused in my family.
You captured the sadness of innocence lost, of the thief that comes to steal, in the middle of the night . . . noted by the fact that she isn’t cuddling her teddy bear. And her eyes are open, serious – not relaxed and sweet. She’s pulled up into a kind of protective position, pulled into herself. This image comes with lots of emotional layers and is open to many interpretations.
I agree Jacqueline, innocence is a precious gift, that once stolen – can never be replaced. This image reached deep into my heart and stirred my inner-child. Your images whisper from the soul.
Jaeda you have understood my message perfectly, you have looked at the title, the image and the contents plus the comment and understood! You felt the picture, experienced it and interpreted it with your soul and now i am happy..someone understood! I love your inner being…strong but so vunerable, hidden and so deep! You and i are whisperers from the soul because we know of no other way to be so i hear yours and you hear mine!
Thank you again Helene i took them to give my inner child a voice (i was molested) and also for someone in my family who was abused by the same man. It is a subject that many understandably do not want to see or be reminded of but i felt it was a piece of me that needed to be acknowledged! Thank you for your understanding comment!
Thank you again Christopher it is indeed a sad place to be when someone you love so dearly destroys your love and innocence and traumatizes you for years after. No one loves quite like a child it’s so pure and unconditional so i think they feel it even more keenly when it’s betrayed. Thanks again for your lovely comment!
Thank you Jim i’m glad people like yourself find it a strong enough image to use the word ‘powerful’ i very much appreciate it. You are also right to say children should be respected as i think abusers regard themselves as having the right to take what does not belong to them, our children are loaned to us not owned by us! Thanks so much for your lovely comment!

a very powerful image, Jacqueline, and perfectly captured in more ways than one. I am passionate about the protection of children and their right to that protection, and I think this image conveys perfectly what you are tryin to express. children are a precious gift.
Marny..my heart and spirit reaches out to you, i wish i could hold you and comfort that beautiful broken little soul. I did this photograph as a means of self healing and simply to express myself. I wish you healing and wholeness in your journey of rediscovery of self.
Powerful and challanging, this is what photography is about in many mays, the same as art in all its guises throuhout the ages has confronted us and challenged us. Word seem inadequate so I won’t even try.
Glen the words you have used ‘powerful and challenging’ are perfect you don’t need to say anything else, that is the best comment you could give me….thanks!
