This poor fellow is in an enclosure much too small for such a beautiful specimen. Taken at the Calgary Zoo summer 1976, Calgary, Alberta. I have amended the lighting and contrast and changed to BW only. I did not touch the eyes. They speak for themselves.

Great shot, Al. Definitely “worth a thousand words”. Never was much of a fan of the “old style” zoos.
Thanks Mike. Thankfully they are much better these days.

I remember those sad animals in those sad cages. Going there today they are still in cages but very much improved. Nice shot Al.
Yes, they have greatly improved conditions at the zoo here so beautiful animals like this have much more room to move around.

I can see the sadness in this poor cat. I hate caged animals.
Yes, I thought he looked pretty angry.

I appreciate the photo but I have a hard time looking at these kinds of images….
I can appreciate your feelings. Thankfully these animals have much better surroundings today.

very good shot
Aciu my friend. It is a very old shot of some pretty severe conditions.

Sad really – he looks like he is begging you to let him out :(
I agree Kelly, he does not look like a happy camper with those piercing eyes.

Your cohosts,

great catch,,,,,,,,,
Many thanks Sean. I was torn between my urge to free him and my feeling that I probably wouldn’t survive the attempt, lol.
