Currently residing at Doubtless Bay in the Far North of New Zealand’s North Island, I am a New Zealand Artist of Maori and Celtic descent.
My love affair with art began as a preschooler when I scribbled and drew mostly non-figurative abstracts with brilliantly colored crayons on every piece of blank paper I could acquire.
Growing up on a beef and sheep farm, where I got to ride horses much of the time, fostered an early interest in animals which feature in much of my artwork today.
My preferred medium to paint with is oils to achieve more graduated blending of tone and color, although acrylics I find lend themselves to painting more jazzed up, spontaneous pieces.
Besides being blessed with good clear light and warm, sunny surroundings, my horse and cat and local fauna and flora offer much inspiration for painting also.
