Distance.

Twice I laid down my head
To cry
To laugh
To stare at the sky
. . .
But nothing came
. . .
As tears fall
Like rain on water
Expressionless
I stare ahead
The fetal form a comfort
. . .
Far
It’s too far
I can’t crawl, my knees…
I felt the power build
And I could push
. . .
Heaviness never quite lifts
But the hill is not vacant
What a stretch

We stretch ourselves so thin, we don’t realize we can still stretch more. Then, we do.
