Moral Compass

My moral compass is spinning
Like a wild cyclone
I could have sworn the needle flew off
North is now below my feet
Yet East is still holding my right hand
In the morning I feel stable
My heart yearns for adventure
I take my compass
And leave my safe haven
Some days the compass doesn’t work at all
I stand in stagnant heat
As those behind me wait to move
But where can I go if my compass doesn’t spin?
Those are the days I shouldn’t have left
I get lost
And can’t find my way home
It’s not quite the adventure I anticipated
In the wee hours of my waking
Stagnancy or Cyclone
Which is more socially acceptable?
I just want my compass to work again
